BOATS (stylized digitally as BOATS416) is the volatile, genre-destroying collective operating out of Toronto. The project is driven by the singular creative engine of E. Melody (Vocals, Guitars, Drums, Production), who serves as the primary songwriter and instrumentalist. The lineup is fortified by M. Khrow (Samples, Drums, Occasional Vocals) and the expanded sonic texture of A. McGregor (Guitars, Additional Vocals).

Standing for Based On A True Story, the group is a raw fusion of Lo-fi, Post-Punk, and Alternative Hip-Hop. The sound is a deliberate collision of textures, shifting from the ambient wash of experimental folk to the narrative drive of spoken word without warning. Their commitment to volume is undeniable. Launching with Track 01 in 2011, the collective unleashed a torrent of material via The Foundation Agency, including the pivotal release The Microphone Moved (2012). A relentless 2014 run produced five separate titles, highlighted by the Duel Enigma Mixtape and Gas Mask (Mixtape).
